How We Integrated Recovery into EquipoArg: High-Performance Technology for Sports cover image

Elite sports performance depends on more than training intensity. Recovery capacity, sleep quality, and physical resilience determine how prepared an athlete really is before each competition.

At The Blue Box, we integrated the engine behind our Recovery platform into EquipoArg, the official app of ENARD (Argentina's National Entity for High-Performance Sports), used by athletes in the Argentine delegation.

This integration brings key physiological metrics together in one place, turning scattered wearable data into clear indicators for athletes and their coaching teams.

1. Multi-Device Connectivity: Apple, Google, and Garmin

Athletes use different devices in their daily routines. To ensure a seamless experience without requiring them to change their hardware, we connected Recovery to the leading platforms on the market:

  • Apple Health (iOS): Captures metrics recorded through Apple Watch and devices compatible with the Apple ecosystem.
  • Google Health Connect / Google Fit (Android): Consolidates health and activity information from the Android ecosystem.
  • Garmin Connect: Direct integration with Garmin multisport devices, widely used in athletics and physically demanding sports.

The "Mi bienestar" (My Wellbeing) module within EquipoArg syncs data in the background, allowing athletes to manage their connections in the Mis dispositivos (My Devices) section.

2. Key Metrics: Calculating Sleep and Resilience Scores

Recovery's main goal is not to accumulate data, but to interpret it to support decision-making. The system processes biometric information and calculates two fundamental scores:

  1. Sleep Score: Analyzes sleep duration, continuity, and stages to measure the impact of sleep on biological recovery.
  2. Resilience Score: Evaluates heart rate variability (HRV), accumulated stress, and the body's response to previous training loads.

These consolidated indicators help identify fatigue before it leads to overtraining or injuries.

3. Visibility for Coaches and Support Staff

One of the main advances of this implementation is making information available to coaches.

Through the dashboard, ENARD coaching teams can access their athletes' recovery status in real time. This allows them to:

  • Adjust training loads: Adapt the volume and intensity of each session to the day's recovery level.
  • Prevent injuries: Detect sustained declines in resilience or sleep to intervene early.
  • Make data-driven decisions: Design physical preparation plans backed by objective biometric data.
